West vs. BRICS: The New Cold War
By Daily Bell Staff - March 09, 2016
Lula and the BRICS in a fight to the death … “BRICS” is the dirtiest of acronyms in the Beltway/Wall Street axis … So it’s no surprise the three key BRICS powers have been under simultaneous attack, on many fronts, for some time now. -RT
This RT article provides us a momentous summary of the world’s latest Cold War.
It is “The BRICS Versus the Anglosphere.”
The analysis comes from one of the savviest of global journalists, Pepe Escobar, who regularly publishes well-received books about international power politics.
More on the tensions:
On Russia, it’s all about Ukraine and Syria, the oil price war … On China, it’s all about “Chinese aggression” in the South China Sea and the (failed) raid over the Shanghai/Shenzhen stock exchanges.Brazil is the weakest link among these three key emerging powers. Already by the end of 2014 it was clear the usual suspects would go no holds barred to destabilize the seventh largest global economy, aiming at good old regime change …
So the proverbial lines have been drawn.
After all, the BRICS have set up their own competing version of the International Monetary Fund and are soliciting currency deals around the world that bypass the dollar.
Their leaders are even contemplating a new reserve currency, perhaps a basket of world currencies that they could develop jointly with the IMF.
The article mentions a “major underwater fiber-optic telecom cable between Brazil and Europe, as well as … uniting South America to East Asia – both bypassing US control.”
Finally, the article covers the recent, emergent political harassment of Brazil’s previous president, “Lulu,” who reportedly spent a good deal of his presidency fending off US Big Oil.
As far back as 2009, major US oil producers lusted after Brazil’s fabulous oil wealth, according to documents provided by WikiLeaks. But it was Lulu – Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva – who built up state-run Petrobras to manage Brazil’s vast oil resources and gave oil exploration rights to China’s Sinopec rather than Western oil giants.
Thus, comes payback. Its mechanism is the close cooperation between Brazilian Federal Police and the FBI and CIA. These policing elements are driving a “Car Wash” investigation that has unearthed massive corruption.
Ordinarily, a scandal of this size would end because the Brazilians involved are at the peak of society. The police leading the way would have been removed and the investigation side-tracked.
That’s how it works in the West.
But no such arrangement can take place in Brazil, given that Western intelligence agencies are surreptitiously leading the charge.
The investigation has reached legendary Lulu himself. The former president was detained about Petrobras corruption in a move that “sent shockwaves around the world.”
The article tells us the idea was to tarnish Lulu’s reputation and also to make Lulu aware that he should not run again for president in 2018.
We also learn that Lulu defended himself ably through a four-hour interrogation and addressed the nation in a “political master class of a speech.” Lulu cast himself believably as a martyr and energized his allies.
The political project … couldn’t care less about “justice”; the only thing that matters is to perpetuate a vicious political crisis as a means to drag the seventh largest economy in the world into the mud and reach the Holy Grail: a … good ol’ regime change.
However …
It seems to us that one can make the same argument when it comes to the emergent Cold War. Significant undercurrents swirl that have little to do with published news.
Please note:
- Russia, China and Brazil use Western-style central banking economies. Western elites were instrumental in installing these systems in all three countries.
- The global strategies these countries use to oppose Western power and influence – such as the creation of a BRIC-IMF – are also Western in design and intent.
- Finally, even the name “BRICS” was developed in the West by a Goldman Sachs banker.
The BRICS are in many senses Western.
How is it that the West is entering into a new Cold War with countries that were essentially nursed into their current success and power by Western elite interests?
Having been painstakingly created by the West from an economic standpoint, these three huge countries (and perhaps India too) will now provide determined opposition to the Western model much as did the USSR before its mysterious collapse.
Are we looking at a new Cold War …
Or Cold War propaganda?
Are we facing political history …
Or a super-sized Hegelian dialectic?
And what would be the synthesis? A merger of all parties concerned into a truly global leadership structure?
Western economies have been thoroughly depressed over the past decade even as the BRICS have been built up. This kind of evening-out is necessary if one wants to significantly advance internationalization.
However, without a fundamental clash, no compromises can be made. So, it is perfectly possible that we are headed in the direction of a new Cold War.
But not merely as the outcome of defensive necessities. Instead, as the result of elite manipulations leading to the further evolution of global governance.
Note this, please. Internalize it.
Don’t be misled by Cold War hype or a determination to “do something” to help your country. To participate, if our hypothesis is correct, is only to support what must be, in bluntest terms, a charade.
Conclusion: We arrive once again at the conclusion that your first priority must be your own interests and that of your family. Don’t pay attention to the “noise.” Don’t be confused by appeals to your patriotism. Stay away from this upcoming globalist enterprise masquerading as a Cold War.
